Add-on: FLIP Fluids

14

A new fluid simulator for Blender offers high performance, whitewater effects, viscosity effects, built-in mesh generation, fracture modifier support and more.

FLIP Fluids is a powerful liquid simulation addon that gives you the ability to create high quality cinematic fluid effects all within Blender!

The core fluid engine, a modern FLIP-based fluid solver, has been under development for over three years with over a year of development focused on tightly integrating the simulator into Blender as an addon.

The FLIP Fluids simulator was created to improve on many aspects of Blender's internal Elbeem fluid simulation system such as speed, performance, accuracy, customizability, and user experience. We use a familiar and intuitive simulation workflow, so if you have experience with the internal fluid simulator or other fluid simulation software, you will be able to get yourself up and running with FLIP Fluids in no time!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Flip Fluids was supposed to be part of the MantaFluid thing thats replacing the default Blender Fluid
Why is this one being sold if we anyway going to get FLIP fluid in Blender.

    • Mantaflow and this FLIP Fluid Addon are actually two separate projects.
So yea, RLGUY is selling his own Addon, Mantaflow is fully open but its also a lot more in-progress and still needs time.
Both do use FLIP solver though and Mataflow is still supposed to replace Blenders current simulation tools as it also can do smoke/fire.

Might just be a bit confusing because "FLIP Fluid Addon" put the name of the solver in its name.

  2. Whoa, it's finally ready, was pretty hyped when its beta was announced :o

Looks amazing, but I only run Blender on Linux boxes so I can't get it right now. Really looking forward to when it's ready for Linux!

  3. I long for the time I can do a realistic large scale beach scene without it looking like it’s inside a invisible box. How’d they do the water effects in Surfs Up?
